this past week gave us some of the best fluke fishing we have seen this year. from the time you stop to the time you pull up to go home their is action. what you keep is a different story. after culling thru the shorts you get to take home a fish or two. for their first trip of the year the bridge boys made the trip down. they even put a few in the box. ed it was great to see all of you. the olny question is , what happened to capt. chris, and how is peppe recovering from his inflammation. steve the flounder pounder made his first visit back to fortescue is 2 years, nice to see you steve. pony tail tony hooked up on 48 fluke before putting 2 in his box. jim fox from willimstown had 12 and 1 for the box at 19". tim sutherland from millville managed 2 at 23". tom de young from turnesville made a meal with his 19" fluke. jay schneiderrt and skinny joey from phila. took 7 keepers back home all between 19" - 21".the father and son team of tony and chris from vineland stung 2 20" fish to take home, just so you know chris had to show dad how it was done he put both keepers in the box. the big fish of thursday was from chad and carol moore from quiton, a 25lb. drum sung the drum song to take the pool, not to mention the 10 keeper fluke that went back to quiton. way to go. on friday lou mackiewicz from hole circle phila. won the pool with his 22" flattie. rember lou next time make a right at the blinker light .fishing was good this week and hopefully it will just get better as we go on. the croaks are starting to show up in small numbers, some of the charter boats are finding a few when they are anchored up. we will just have to keep listing to see when that bite will start up. oh yea thank you to robert from the lake for giving me a rest on the way in the other day.

DRUM FISHING

ok it is finally getting done. some more drum pictures. if i forget some people just let me know and you are up on the report. bret austin was down with his group and showed us some real winners a few weeks ago. from larry and his hair do, to the talk of the boat elmer from , elmer. now to make this short you have to know elmer to fully enjoy him. if you were to pick out a shirt for elmer to have it must say " women love me and fish fear me" . when elmer was hooked up one might have thought he was giving birth, all that was heard was , breath elmer , breath. he is what keeps fortescue clean, thanks elmer. my man leon can be seen with the yellow rain coat in the pictures. boy oh boy am i glad leon caught that fish. that night was a wild night for the weather, but they hung in and caught a few. i know i did not put any thing up for my man jerry's kids on trip number two. brian did not repeat his hat trick of last month, but his just being their was fine by me. jerry did catch his drum of the year. this group is like that rabbit on tv, they just keep going, and going, and going.thanks look forward to the croakers and trout. the strange fish of the drum run was a 16" lamprey eel that was attached to the side of a drum. look at the sucker mouth on that. well drum is done and it was not as hot as 2008 but as the saying goes " a bad day fishing is still better than a day at work" . thank you all for fishing with us.

DAY FISHING

once again capt. joe jr. did it. he found the fluke and showed them how to wiggle the worm. on saturday the catch was good. joann the fisher woman caught a nice meal with her 2 flatties. with another week gone by capt. ken takahi caught his meal plan with 3 nice flatties. just a small note on capt. ken, although he does not hold a active license, he is the senior captain of the port of fortescue. he is 85 years young and still fishes each week. other than that our very own capt joe sr. still holds a active license and is on his 12 issue, that is 60 years of service. those two feet's are a accomplishment of their own.

DONE ON DRUM

THE WEDNESDAY NIGHT OPEN BOAT DRUM TRIPS ARE OVER. THIS IS DUE TO LACK OF FISH COOPERATION. THANK YOU TO ALL OF THE LOYAL FISHERMAN THAT MADE 2009 A GREAT DRUM YEAR.

DAY FLOUNDER FISHING

it has been a week for this report to get up , things have been a bit busy. day time has showed some life with the flat fish. over the weekend capt. ken takahi from the kingfisher III landed a nice fluke at 24" and won the pool. as i have done in the past i lost the name of the other guy in the pictures, but he did well. if you see this send me your name and i will fix it. then you have dave from beuna with his strange fish, it's a keeper flounder, about time. the other guy in the pictures is the crazy indian, thats it , all that needs to be said. on monday the 8 the storm of the week hit us. the picture that you see was taken at 8:00am. what a view we had first the sky turned black , then the thunder rolled, then it was on . rain , lightning, rain, more lightning, oh yea hail, more lightning, some more rain, then time to go back to fishing. the review of the week is that you need a good drift to catch the fluke. capt. joe did it again with 60 keepers on saturday, sunday was a bit off, and monday was the storm that messed every thing up.

UNCLE RUSS AND THE GUYS

it is june 7 and the boom, boom drum is not beating all that loud. uncle russ was on the water with his boys from millville and what a trip . the weather conditions were not the best but we did get the night in fishing. we went to the west side of the channel across from pin top and tried something . it worked with princess peirce pulling not one but two 50 - 60 lb boomers up all by himself. all the guys gave him alot of encouragement when his mighty battle was on. bill harrition was on cooler watch to ensure that all beverages were consumed in a timely manor. dam i almost forget the treat of the night. texas layer cake, off the hook. this is one of the groups that you look forward to seeing each year. thanks
